Hi, I am Mel and I love, love a good dinner party as does my darling partner Lisa! We live in a small community and it's easy to feel isolated, less connected and less stimulated than living in the city.
Lisa has two gorgeous children that constantly remind us of the simplicity of happiness. Some of our favourite moments as a family are around the dinner table sharing food, gratitude and laughter. It brings us together, uninterrupted, which is rare these days.
We both come from long established, loyal, socially aware friendship groups that share a passion for food, wine, laugher and meeting new people! We love to fine dine and equally a roast on a Sunday at home.
For us food is an experience and a treasured source of life that many people do not have the privilege of, so we are grateful we have options.
Whilst BBTDP has been a niggling idea for years, our community, our home, our dear friends and our family has been the catalyst to get this up and running, so we can all experience more joy and connection through food and maybe a few reds minutes from our door or even in our own home!
The south coast of Sydney is simply beautiful, and we realised the beauty of a smaller community is connection and supporting local businesses. We felt more at home and connected when we discovered our local café 'blue swimmer Gerroa' and their welcoming staff, our local restaurants and when we joined a long table at the local winery.
We opened our home to new Neighbours, our mind to new friends, our taste buds to new restaurants and topped up our wine glasses with good local wine!
We realised the magic on a small community, the importance of supporting locally, the invisible coats of difference that are left on the backs of the chairs at the table so the magic of similarity, curiosity and good conversation can be had. We realised the importance and pure joy of 'The Dinner Party' and we wanted more.
We love sharing our home with people, opening our ears to people's stories and indulging in the food and wines we are grateful enough to have at our fingertips.
Lisa and I hope you and your loved ones can join us in 'Bringing back the Dinner Party and creating memories' . Cheers and Bon appétit!
